Emily is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), National Certified Counselor (NCC), a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP), and is certified in Perinatal Mental Health (PMH-C). She obtained her Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Benedictine University, and undergraduate Psychology degree at the University of Kansas. She has been providing counseling to individuals, couples, families, parents, and children/adolescents/teens for going on 10 years. She also is an adjunct psychology professor at Benedictine University teaching both undergraduate and graduate-level courses, and supervises provisionally-licensed professional counselors.

Her background and training is working in sexual assault crisis centers, private practices, and non profits providing counseling services to individuals, couples, and families of all ages. Emily’s specialties include working with survivors of trauma, first responders + their close family members, families of all types, and supporting parents on their parenthood journey.

Emily works with a wide range of age groups, ranging from as young as 10 years old up into late adulthood. Some of the struggles she works with include, but is not limited to:

  • Anxiety

  • Healing from trauma

  • Parenting/ Parent Coaching and Support

  • Maternal Mental Health (Peri-natal Mood and Anxiety experiences [Prenatal, Pregnancy, Post-Partum, Birth Trauma])

  • Relationship conflicts

  • Family conflicts

Emily engages each client with a warm, empathic, and accepting approach, while building a strong rapport and holistically addressing and integrating each area of each client’s biological, psychological, spiritual, and social experiences. She believes in creating a safe space for each client, allowing for them the freedom to introspect and work towards improving their health and well-being. She utilizes cognitive behavioral therapy, client-centered therapy, child-centered play therapy, mindfulness-based therapy, family systems, DBT/ trauma-informed, Internal Family Systems/ parts work, Gottman relationship techniques, but she tailors her approach to each unique client.
